Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office identified two men in connection with a 2016 double homicide east of Reedley.

Jonathan Morales Ramos, 27, of Soledad, and Erik Madrigal Garcia, 26, of Orosi, were identified as suspects in the killings of Alfonso Barbosa, 31, and Fray Martin Rodriguez, 29, both of Reedley.

Investigators determined the victims were targeted due to gang-related activity, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday.

Garcia has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on a felony murder charge.

Ramos, currently incarcerated at Salinas Valley Prison for an unrelated crime, will be transferred to Fresno County to face a murder charge once his sentence there is complete.

Deputies discovered the victims, Barbosa and Rodriguez, on Jan. 23, 2016, after responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle near East Dinuba and Crawford avenues.

The car, a dark-colored Chevrolet Malibu, was found parked at an odd angle with its headlights and engine running, police said.

Both men inside had been fatally shot.
