A Fresno man was arrested Thursday on felony charges for allegedly contacting a minor with the intent of engaging in sexual activity, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Geraldo Santos, 50, was booked into the Fresno County Jail following an investigation by the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The investigation began after a 13-year-old girl reported that Santos had approached her at a bus stop in February and gave her his phone number, authorities said.

The girl recognized the inappropriate nature of the contact and immediately reported the incident to the Fresno Police Department.

Detectives later posed as the child and arranged a meeting with Santos, who was arrested when he arrived at an undisclosed location.
