The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office has identified Samantha Dellia, 36, as the woman who died.

The 44-year-old man injured in the incident remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Original Story

Deputies and firefighters responded to a shed fire at approximately 5 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Quince and Ontario avenues in Caruthers, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Two people, a man and a woman, were inside the shed when the fire broke out, officers said.

The man sustained burns, and the woman later died.

Firefighters are investigating the cause of the blaze, and the sheriff’s office is reviewing information that suggests the circumstances surrounding the fire may be suspicious.

Sheriff’s detectives are now assisting with the investigation.

The identity of the deceased has not been released. Authorities may provide further details as the investigation progresses.
