A motorcyclist fleeing from a deputy in Fresno was arrested Thursday afternoon after a short pursuit, the Fresno Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Around 12:30 p.m., a deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle without a visible license plate near Dudley and Marks avenues.

The rider, identified as Benny Brusso, 56, did not stop and accelerated, running several stop signs, authorities said.

The pursuit ended when Brusso skidded out and laid the bike down near Olive and Hughes, where deputies arrested him.

A records check revealed that Brusso is a registered sex offender who had failed to renew his registration.

According to the Megan’s Law website, he was convicted in 1996 of rape by force or fear. He was released in 2001.

Deputies found methamphetamine, marijuana, and copper wire in his possession.

Brusso was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of evading police and drug possession, along with outstanding warrants for failing to update his sex offender registration and for drug possession, authorities said.
