Love “The Nutcracker”? Then you’re in luck. Two versions are coming up.

On the sports beat, the Fresno State men’s basketball team hosts Cal Baptist on Saturday afternoon and I’ll tell you how to get in free. There’s also a big MMA event in Visalia on Saturday.

Check out our expanded list of events at this link.

Candlelight: Christmas Carols & The Nutcracker

Candlelight will have two themed holiday shows at The Grand 1401 on Friday: “Christmas Carols on Strings” and “The Nutcracker.”

They play while surrounded by hundreds — sometimes thousands — of LED candles for a dramatic effect.

For the early show, the Listeso String Quartet will perform holiday classics like “Joy to the World,” and “O Holy Night.” For “The Nutcracker,” the musicians will bring Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s soundtrack to life with epics like “Waltz of the Flowers” and “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.”

World Ballet Company’s Nutcracker

World Ballet Series: “The Nutcracker” comes to the Saroyan Theatre on Saturday. Follow young Clara on her journey through a winter wonderland filled with dancing snowflakes, magical toys, and the Sugar Plum Fairy.

The World Ballet Company, which is based in Los Angeles, is led by Sasha Gorskaya and Gulya Hartwick. Its motto is, “Changing the way people think about ballet.”

Fresno State Men’s Basketball vs. Cal Baptist

The Fresno State men’s basketball team will host Cal Baptist at the Save Mart Center on Saturday.

The team is 4-7 and are looking to build momentum off its home victory against San Diego last Saturday. Bring a canned food item to donate and you’ll get in for free. Tip-off is at 2 p.m.

559 Fights 110

559 Fights hosts its No. 110 fight card at the Visalia Convention Center on Saturday. The company puts on yearly MMA events. Four titles will be on the line in the last fighting event of the year.

The main event will be between middleweight champion Francisco Hurtado vs. Anthony Montalvo. The co-main event is lightweight champion Joey Sandoval vs. Amin Derakhshan.

The two featured fights are welterweight champion Fabian Maldonado vs. Roman Guillen and the bantamweight title fight between Brandon Betancourt vs. Michael Brown.
