Tywain Demetrius Robinson, 26, of Fresno, was sentenced Wednesday to 50 years to life in prison for the murder of Isaac Jackson, 24, and the attempted murder of Terrell Williams, 30, both also from Fresno, the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

The sentence, handed down by Judge Gary Orozco of the Fresno County Superior Court, follows Robinson’s conviction by a jury on Oct. 11 after a weeks-long trial.

The case stems from a shooting on May 7, 2021, when Jackson and Williams visited Robinson’s apartment to check on a family member.

Robinson fired multiple rounds from inside the apartment through a closed front door. As Jackson and Williams fled to their vehicle, Robinson followed them outside, continuing to shoot. Jackson was fatally struck while seated in the front passenger seat.

Williams was not hit and drove away, later flagging down a Fresno police officer near Community Regional Medical Center.

Robinson fled the area immediately after the shooting and was apprehended out of state over a year later before being extradited to Fresno. During the trial, Robinson testified, claiming his actions were justified, the Fresno County DA’s Office said.

The Fresno County DA’s Office credited the Fresno Police Department for their investigative work in the statement.
