A Fresno man is in custody after leading authorities on a high-speed chase in a stolen truck that ended in gridlocked traffic on Clovis Avenue Friday afternoon, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Dannie Rollins, 28, of Fresno, who is on post-release community supervision under California’s AB-109, faces charges of evading police, auto theft, and resisting arrest, according to authorities.

The incident began when OnStar alerted Fowler Police that a stolen Chevrolet pickup truck was near Adams and Temperance avenues in Fowler.

A sheriff’s deputy located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but Rollins fled, reaching speeds of up to 90 mph and running stop signs. The deputy halted the pursuit and called for aerial support.

The sheriff’s office’s Eagle One helicopter tracked the truck as it headed toward Fresno.

OnStar remotely disabled the vehicle, slowing it to about 5 mph. Rollins exited Highway 180 at Clovis Avenue, where he made an illegal turn that caused traffic delays.

Deputies and California Highway Patrol officers boxed in the truck to prevent further movement.

Rollins attempted to reverse but was forcibly removed from the vehicle after resisting arrest. Authorities confirmed no injuries occurred during the arrest.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111 or Valley Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
