Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a woman hospitalized Saturday afternoon in Chowchilla, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Deputies responded just after noon reporting a shooting near Road 22 and Santa Fe Drive, according to authorities.

At the scene, they found an adult female victim who was airlifted to a regional hospital for treatment.

Investigators later determined the shooting occurred at a residence nearby.

Deputies served a search warrant at a home in the 26000 block of Road 22, but no arrests were made.

The sheriff’s office confirmed the suspect or suspects are still at large.
