A 32-year-old man died early Sunday after his car veered off McKinley Avenue in west Fresno, crashing into multiple structures before overturning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man was identified as Anthony Thomas of Fresno, by the Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office on Monday.

The collision occurred around 3:05 a.m. just east of Blythe Avenue, when the man’s Alfa Romeo swerved right, hitting several brick pillars, a wrought iron fence, and a chain-link fence, the CHP representative said.

The driver, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities haven’t yet determined if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
