Madera County mountain residents should prepare for a public safety power shutoff event as PG&E plans to de-energize power lines in several areas, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to authorities, the shutoff is expected to begin Friday around 4 a.m. and power is anticipated to be restored by Saturday.

The affected areas include Central Camp, The Pines, Wishon, Bass Lake Annex, North Fork, Cascadel Woods, O’Neals, and Sugar Pine.

The sheriff’s office said it will have extra patrols to ensure the safety of homes and businesses during the outage.

Community resource centers will be open for those impacted, providing a place to charge devices, access information, and receive assistance.

The centers are at North Fork Elementary and Oakhurst Community Center, operating daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting Friday.

Residents can stay informed via updates at PG&E’s Alerts. The utility will also reach out directly to customers through phone calls, text messages, and door-to-door notifications.

The sheriff’s office urges residents to prepare now for the outage. For preparation tips and to sign up for alerts, visit Prepare for Power Down.
