Quick action from a resident and local police led to the arrest of two burglary suspects Thursday afternoon in Clovis, the Clovis Police Department said in a news release.

At approximately 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, a resident near Peach and Nees avenues reported observing two unknown individuals breaking into their home while they were away.

Officers arrived as the suspects attempted to flee by jumping over backyard fences.

One suspect, identified as Jesus Mercado Obeso, 20, was apprehended immediately on the scene, authorities said. The second suspect, Tatiana Saavedra, 21, was located shortly later in a parked vehicle about a street away.

Clovis police deployed a search effort, using a drone, K9 units — including K9 Ryder — and helicopters from the Fresno Police Department and the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

One suspect remains at large.

Obeso and Saavedra have been booked into Fresno County Jail, facing felony burglary and conspiracy charges, according to authorities.

Authorities indicated that the third suspect would also be charged similarly upon capture.
