California Highway Patrol officers seized approximately 235 pounds of methamphetamine, valued at over $2.1 million, during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 in Fresno County, authorities said on a social media post Thursday evening.

The incident occurred on Sept. 6 when a CHP Central Division sergeant pulled over a 2024 Chrysler Pacifica for a traffic violation near Russell Avenue.

The driver immediately fled on foot into a nearby orchard, prompting a search that included additional CHP ground units and air support from the Fresno Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect was not located.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found 107 packages of suspected narcotics. Tests confirmed the substance to be crystal methamphetamine.

Charges against the suspect, who remains at large, include possession of methamphetamine for sale, transportation of methamphetamine across counties, and resisting arrest.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to search for the suspect.
