A Fresno Police Department sergeant was arrested Wednesday following the issuance of a felony warrant in connection with charges involving a minor, according to a department news release.

Paige McQuay, 56, was taken into custody and booked into Fresno County Jail on charges of attempting to commit a lewd act upon a child and communicating with a minor with the intent to commit an unlawful offense, authorities said.
The arrest followed a notification from the Roseville Police Department, which initiated the investigation.

McQuay, a member of the Fresno Police Department since December 1993, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation, according to a Fresno police statement.
McQuay is not eligible for bail.
No additional information has been released.
