Close to 1,500 Personnel Work to Contain Tulare County's Coffee Pot Fire

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Coffee Pot Fire has burned 12,836 acres and is 17% contained. Evacuation orders and warnings are in effect, and several roads and trails in Sequoia National Park are closed. (Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks)

The month-old Coffee Pot Fire has grown to 12,836 acres and 17% containment as of Wednesday afternoon according to CalFire.

There are currently 53 engines, 13 helicopters, 11 bulldozers, 30 water tenders, 41 hand crews, and 1,477 personnel on the scene.

Lightning sparked the wildfire on Aug. 3.

Road and Park Closures

Highway 198 and Generals Highway in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks are open, but Mineral King Road between Oak Grove and the park boundary is closed. A pilot car is escorting vehicles out of the area.

South Fork Road in Sequoia National Park, including the Lady Bug and Garfield Grove Trails, is closed until further notice due to the nearby Coffee Pot Fire. Additionally, the Bureau of Land Management has closed the Case Mountain Extensive Recreation Management Area.
