A wildfire that broke out Tuesday near Coalinga, along Highway 198 and Boone Lane, has scorched 704 acres and is threatening three structures, Cal Fire reports.

The Boone Fire is spreading moderately, with firefighters contending with steep terrain and limited access.

Highway 198 has been closed in both directions near Boone Lane, and Cal Fire is advising the public to steer clear of the area.

Twenty-one engines, four water tenders, seven bulldozers, and four hand crews are working on containment.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
