The Fresno Fire Department responded to calls Thursday morning about large amounts of smoke coming from Oggi Cosi Si Mangia — one of Fresno’s most popular Italian restaurants.

Reports of the fire at 1110 N. Van Ness began coming in around 7:20 a.m., said Fresno Fire public information officer Josh Sellers.

The fire appears to have started in the kitchen area and was quickly contained, Sellers said.

The fire’s cause and the extent of the damage were being determined Thursday morning. There were no injuries, Sellers said. Around 34 firefighters responded to the call.

The Fresno County Department of Health will also investigate the cause of the blaze, as it does with all restaurant fires.
