Cenk Uygur, founder of “The Young Turks,” has declared his intention to run for president as a Democrat, posing a direct challenge to President Biden. Uygur, a progressive media host, has been vocal about his belief that Biden should withdraw from the race, citing the threat to democracy posed by former President Trump’s potential 2024 run.

Uygur, who was born in Istanbul and immigrated to the U.S. at the age of eight, is confident that the Constitution’s “Natural Born Citizen” clause will not hinder his presidential bid. He is prepared to take the matter to the Supreme Court if necessary.

Despite finishing fourth in his last congressional run in California’s 25th District, Uygur is undeterred. He joins author Marianne Williamson as the only other candidate challenging Biden in the Democratic primary. Uygur expressed respect for Williamson but emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that significant changes are needed within the next four months to prevent a loss to Trump.
