Kingsburg is one of T-Mobile’s latest Hometown Grant recipients and is set to receive $50,000.
City leaders say they plan to use the funding to support installing restrooms, solar lighting, landscaping, and Wi-Fi access points at Athwal Park.
“We’re honored and thankful to T-Mobile for selecting Kingsburg as a Hometown Grant recipient. These new improvements are part of the next phase of our investment into Athwal Park. We’re excited to provide new amenities that the entire community will benefit from,” said Kingsburg Mayor Vince Palomar in a news release.
The grant will be presented to Kingsburg in a public ceremony beginning at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Ahtwal Park, 1401 Draper St.
The wireless carrier operates a large call center in Kingsburg that opened in 2022. The company reportedly spent $40 million to build the facility at the former site of a K-Mart store.

T-Mobile Hometown Grants
This funding comes from T-Mobile Hometown Grants, a five-year initiative launched in April 2021. This program is intended to support people and organizations who help small towns across the United States thrive.
Since the kickstart of this initiative, T-Mobile has contributed more than $10 million. The company’s plan is to infuse $25 million into 225 communities.
T-Mobile also is helping small-town America through other initiatives, such as Project 10 Million and T-Mobile 5G Home Internet.
Project 10 Million is intended to assist in closing the digital divide in education by offering free internet connectivity to students.
T-Mobile 5G Home Internet, which gives millions of Americans access to more affordable home broadband, is available to more than 40% of Kingsburg households, the company said.
