Fresno’s downtown is known for its vibrant culture, history, and art. So it’s no surprise that a business owner from the city’s core is giving back to the community in a creative, new way.
Alexandra Register is the owner of KLSD Printing, a colorful shop located in a restored historic building in the city’s downtown Mural District. Her store is home to beautifully made banners, chic apparel, and messages of positivity. A bright neon sign on the back wall of her space offers encouragement to “Be a Good Human.”
But, her message goes deeper than the hues of chromatic ink spread onto fine cotton. It can be seen in the smiles of children as they learn about art and the process of creativity during one of Fresno Unified School District’s after-school workshops.
Contracted by FUSD to come alongside and inspire kids with her skills in digital media, graphic design, and screen printing, Register says, “It’s a blessing and a big opportunity that we hold very highly.”
She and her team hope this program will expand and positively impact more youth of the Central Valley.
