A world-famous rock guitarist and singer decided to do a spot for a furniture store in his hometown of Bakersfield.

Furniture City dropped the advertisement with Brian “Head” Welch of the metal band Korn on the store’s Instagram Wednesday.

Welch appears to have fun casually walking through the Bakersfield furniture store, relaxing on beds and admiring enormous chandeliers.

A spokesperson from Furniture City was not immediately available to comment.

“This reminds me of Vegas,” Welch says of a couch. “But the thing I like about Furniture City is Vegas will break the bank, Furniture City will not.”

Korn Continued Bakersfield’s Contribution to Rock and Roll

In the 1950s, country artists Buck Owens and Merle Haggard pushed the “Bakersfield sound.”

Korn frontman Jonathan Davis’ dad played keyboard for Owens as well as Frank Zappa, according to MTV.

Decades later, Korn helped define rock and roll in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The grungy, bass-heavy music — referred to as nu metal — would be prominent for years.

Their most successful album, 1998’s “Follow the Leader” was certified Platinum five times, selling 14 million copies worldwide.

The single “Freak on a Leash” from that album is regularly considered one of the best rock songs of the 1990s.

Welch nor other members of Korn have ever shied from their Bakersfield roots.

In 2014, Welch spoke at Bakersfield High School about his fame and how he overcame drug addiction through Christianity.

Lead guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer did an extensive interview in 2016 with The Bakersfield Californian.

“I have some great memories in Bakersfield,” Shaffer says in the interview. “I go back there every once in awhile … our studio is up there, so we see friends and hang out. I’m grateful, I guess, how successful we’ve become and it surpassed any dream that (I had) when I was growing up, you know? We all wanted to do this for a living, but I never thought it would come to this level and last as long as it did.”

Davis still has a home in Bakersfield, according to The Californian.

Welch, along with Davis and Shaffer, founded Korn in 1994.

Furniture City is a western chain. It also has stores in Fresno, Mission Viejo, Modesto, Montclair, and Riverside, as well as Albuquerque, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas.
