A Tulare County jury convicted Arthur Pena Alvidrez on 61 felony counts of child molestation last week involving girls as young as 5 years old.

Alvidrez, 76, faces 888 years to life in prison when he is sentenced on Aug. 31, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
He is a Tulare resident, and that’s where all of his crimes were committed, the DA’s office said. The case began in early 2018 when Tulare police arrested Alvidrez.
This is a breakdown of the crimes and the ages of the victims:
• Thirteen crimes occurred between Jan. 15, 2012, and Feb. 1, 2018, against a girl who was 7 when the sexual assaults began.
• Thirty-eight crimes occurred between Dec. 10, 2008, and Feb. 22, 2018, against a girl who was 5 when the first sexual assault took place.
• Nine crimes occurred between June 4, 2007, and June 3, 2010, against a girl who was 11 when the sexual assaults began.
• One crime occurred between Jan. 1, 2015, and April 26, 2017, against a girl, who was between 11 and 13 when she was sexually assaulted.
Deputy District Attorney Chelsea Wayt of the Crimes against Children Division prosecuted the case, which was investigated by Sgt. Matt Muller of the Tulare Police Department.
