Click on the video above or below to see an inspirational message from Ranvir Singh Johal.

He’s a now second-year medical student at the CHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and a first-generation Punjabi-American who plans to treat patients in the Valley when he becomes a doctor.

Johal spoke about how receiving the 6th annual Ignite the Future scholarship helped him fulfill his passion to attend medical school in the same community he grew up in. Coming from a family of generational farmers, Johal plans to continue his path in medicine and bridge the generational and economic gap within the health system.

CHSU was founded in 2012 by the Assemi family to provide a local option for medical school. Darius Assemi is the publisher of GV Wire.
