Fresno police say they arrested nine people on Saturday, July 1, for alleged drunken driving at a checkpoint at Clinton and Weber avenues.
In addition, 38 drivers were cited for operating an unlicensed vehicle or driving with a suspended/revoked license.
Altogether, 459 drivers were contacted at the checkpoint in west-central Fresno by officers.
The Fresno Police Department chooses DUI checkpoints based on the number of impaired driving-related crashes in a neighborhood, officer Christopher Clark said in a news release.
The next DUI enforcement operation in Fresno will be a saturation patrol on Saturday, July 22.
