Low-income renters needing assistance can apply for the next round of housing vouchers beginning today.

The Housing Choice Voucher program — sometimes called Section 8 — from Fresno Housing provides money for rent to eligible individuals and families. Housing vouchers are accepted at almost all rental units.

Those wanting to enter the voucher lottery can apply online or at the Fresno Housing central office at 1331 Fulton St. in Fresno.

The application period runs through July 14.

Applicants will need an email and social security number to apply.

Random lottery draws will be done throughout the year and those selected will be notified by mail.

Fresno Housing operates a number of computer labs available for people who don’t have regular access to a computer.
