You might want to throw another blanket or comforter on your bed and protect plants and pipes before Tuesday night.

A cold trough of low pressure is expected in Fresno and other Valley communities that will drop temperatures below freezing, according to the National Weather Service in Hanford.

In addition, winds of 10-20 mph will produce even colder wind-chill readings.

The NWS predicts a low temperature for Tuesday night of 30 degrees followed by a low of 29 on Wednesday night. The forecast also calls for widespread morning frost Wednesday and Thursday.

Beginning Tuesday night, there’s also a chance of rain and snow in the Valley’s east-side foothills and mountains

On Friday, an upper-level trough is expected to produce a 20% chance of showers throughout the day.
