Fresno police detectives are seeking the community’s help to solve the cold case homicide of a woman they describe as devoted to her two children and parents.

In addition, the office of Gov. Gavin Newsom is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest of those responsible for her murder.

Sarah Kay Roberts, 26, was gunned down shortly before midnight on New Year’s Eve in 2011 in the 2700 block of North Hughes Avenue.

Police say she was an innocent bystander caught in gunfire between two groups.

As he was driving to pick her up from a party, Roberts’ brother found her on the road. She later died at a hospital. Police at that time said she had been lying in the road for about 20 minutes before her brother discovered her.

Stunned by her shooting death, friends and community members raised thousands of dollars to help pay for Roberts’ funeral.
