Early signs suggest that a 51-year-old northwest Fresno man was shot to death Monday afternoon by a neighbor who was careless with a gun.
Victor Becerra died from a single gunshot after emergency life-saving efforts failed, Fresno police said in a Tuesday news release.
According to Lt. Bill Dooley, the bullet penetrated a common wall between the shooter’s apartment and that of the victim.
‘Tragic Event’
Dooley said that the shooter is cooperating with police in the homicide investigation. However, the department isn’t releasing the suspect’s name because the investigation is ongoing.
“This is a tragic event for the victim’s family,” Dooley said. “The Fresno Police Department would like to remind the public about practicing proper gun safety when handling firearms.”
The apartment complex where the victim was struck is in the 4100 block of North Blythe Avenue.
