A rockslide killed two people on Tuesday near one of the entrances to Yosemite National Park, authorities said.

The deaths occurred at about 9 a.m. Tuesday on El Portal Road, which is a continuation of Highway 140, near Bumguardner Mountain Road, according to the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office.

The national park tweeted Tuesday that El Portal Road was closed for more than four hours due to the rocks, but did not mention any injuries or deaths.

Their names and details of their deaths weren’t immediately released.

The rockfall closed a portion of the road near a park entrance for several hours. But it reopened the same day, the park said in a tweet.
