Though the Las Vegas Raiders haven’t ruled out bringing back Derek Carr, his benching for this season’s final two games — and exit from the team — strongly suggest his future is elsewhere.

By not playing Carr, the Raiders eliminate the possibility of a serious injury affecting his contract status. The club has until Feb. 15 to decide whether to release or trade the nearly 32-year-old quarterback.

The former Fresno State standout also has a no-trade clause but could waive it — or he would receive $33 million for 2023. A serious injury would guarantee that money plus another $7.5 million for 2024.

All this said, where might the three-time Pro Bowl selection land for the 2023 season?

Among the possibilities, according to NFL speculation, are both the New York Giants and Jets, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, and Washington.
