The California Department of Education has decided not to postpone releasing the results of the Smarter Balanced test scores after all, EdSource reports.

The department had historically reported the English and math scores earlier in the school year and separate from other standardized testing results, but this year was opting to delay the results.

Such a delay was hampering the ability of the public to compare school districts and get an earlier view of the impacts of the pandemic on student learning over the past couple of years.

The scores have already been provided to school districts and shared with parents and teachers.

But on Tuesday, Deputy Superintendent Malika Vella said on a radio show in Los Angeles that there was no reason to delay the test scores from public release.

Although some local school districts said they planned to release their data later, Fresno Unified School District made public the SBAC and other testing results from the 2021-22 school year.
