Valley farming icon John Harris is donating $1 million to the Center for Wound Healing at Clovis Community Medical Center.
Harris, 78, announced the gift on Thursday after receiving treatment there.

The gift will help the center purchase equipment, train staff, and fund ongoing support for the wound program, said Community senior VP Katie Zenovich.
The center treats chronic, hard-to-heal wounds, including many that resist traditional treatment after months or even years, hospital officials said.
More than 7,000 patients visit the clinic annually. Thousands more receive support during their hospitalizations.
“I’m extremely grateful for the excellent care I received from the Wound Center for my recent visits,” Harris said.
Harris Farms, founded in 1937, is one of the leading producers of agricultural products in the United States.
The farm is also famous for breeding thoroughbred racing champions such as California Chrome, which won the 2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, and the 2016 Dubai World Cup.
