The exceptional care a family received at Community Regional Medical Center inspired an anonymous $1.65 million gift, hospital officials say.

The donation, which was announced Monday, will support the pediatrics and the emergency departments at the downtown Fresno hospital.

Community officials said that the donor’s family wanted to give back to the hospital that cared for them in their time of need.

Katie Zenovich, the chief fund development officer for Community Medical Centers said the majority of the gift will secure a second CT scanner for the emergency department and build the space to house it.

“On average, 75% of the patients who need a CT come from the emergency department. This new machine addresses a critical need, increasing access to a vital diagnostic tool which will help us provide better service to our patients,” she said.

Gift Will Also Renovate Pediatric Rooms

In addition, Zenovich said, “This transformational gift will upgrade nine pediatric patient rooms at Community Regional with colorful designs, a new nutrition space, and an upgraded playroom in the 5C pediatric unit. This donation will give our pediatric patients a more comfortable, kid-friendly environment.”
