Dr. Sidney Carpenter, a pathologist at Kaiser Permanente, was killed while crossing Bullard Avenue on Saturday night.
Clovis residents called the 57-year-old Carpenter the “Dancing Man” because he often did sidewalk dances at the intersection of Bullard and Temperance avenues.
Police said that the driver who struck Carpenter stayed at the scene and answered questions from officers. Police said that Carpenter was crossing the street without using a crosswalk at about 7 p.m.
Carpenter died at the site of the collision.
