Sheriff’s deputies in San Luis Obispo County responded to a domestic disturbance in an Avila Beach hotel parking lot Wednesday. Upon arrival, deputies conducted a record check of a vehicle associated with the subjects, which revealed the vehicle was associated with two murder suspects out of Fresno, the SLO Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Thursday.

The suspects were identified as 21-year-old Davon Thomas and 23-year-old Emanuel Johnson, both from Fresno. A law enforcement advisory warned that the suspects should be considered armed and dangerous, officials said. Upon further investigation, deputies determined one of the suspects, Thomas, was inside the hotel at that location. It was also determined three children and two other females were also in the room.

Deputies evacuated adjacent rooms before were able securing the suspect’s room, arresting Thomas, and evacuate the three children and two females to safety.

Johnson was arrested a short time later when he was found walking in the Avila Beach area, according to the news release.

Later on Thursday, a Fresno police department spokesman said that Thomas and Johnson were interviewed but have not been charged in relation to a homicide that occurred in Fresno on January 29. The murder warrant has now been rescinded pending further investigation.
