Madera Unified School District employees could soon be getting their COVID-19 vaccinations. The district announced Friday that it is partnering with Camarena Health and the Madera County Department of Public Health to provide inoculations for all employees who want them.
The vaccinations will be administered at Madera South and Torres high schools in upcoming weeks.
Madera Unified is surveying employees to determine how many are opting to receive the coronavirus vaccination.
In addition, family members of district employees who are in the phase 1B tier 1 category of California’s vaccination plan also are eligible for vaccinations at the district sites. That category includes educators, and childcare, emergency services, and food and agriculture workers.
Information about the phase/tier system is at this state website.
“We feel blessed to have this unique partnership with Camarena Health and the Madera County Department of Public Health and are excited to be part of a project that may serve as the model for how the vaccine gets administered throughout our county,” Superintendent Todd Lile said in a statement. “This is a major step in the right direction to getting our students back to school safely.”
