Two Earthquakes Shake Areas Around Gilroy, San Jose

A magnitude 3.7 earthquake was reported Tuesday morning just before 7 a.m. centered about eight miles from Gilroy and two miles from Morgan Hill, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
It was followed a minute later by another quake with a magnitude of 3.6.
Contributions to the USGS community reporting website showed the quakes were felt from Santa Cruz and San Jose to north of San Francisco.
An average of 25 earthquakes with magnitudes between 4.0 and 5.0 occur per year in California and Nevada, according to a recent three-year data sample.
