Three additional COVID-19 deaths were reported by Tulare County officials on Tuesday, bringing the county’s total fatalities from the virus to 35.

“We will ask that you please take a moment and think about those individuals and their friends, their families, and their loved ones,” said Tulare County health department spokeswoman Tammie Weyker-Adkins.

The county also reported 46 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 since its last update Monday. Tulare County’s population is about 463,000. It has had 578 cases of the virus, including 95 patients who recovered.

At present, 614 people in Tulare County are under self-quarantine and are being monitored by the health department.

Three South Valley Nursing Homes Battling Outbreaks

On Monday, officials announced that infections had broken out at a third skilled nursing facility. Ten residents of Linwood Meadows Care Center in Visalia have tested positive for the virus, they reported.

Redwood Springs Healthcare Center, also in Visalia, has experienced one of the worst nursing home outbreaks in the state with 184 confirmed cases. Twenty-four deaths are associated with the cluster of cases at that facility.

One death has also been reported from an outbreak at Lindsay Gardens, which has reported 68 total cases to date.

Out of all confirmed infections in the county, 193 have involved patients aged 65 and older. However, the county reports confirmed cases in every age group, with the number of infections rising with each category, according to data posted on the health department’s website.

Ages 18 -25 59
Ages 26 – 40 124

A majority (358) of the confirmed infections in the county have resulted from person-to-person contact, the health department said, while 193 are under investigation. Twenty-seven cases were found to be travel-related.
