New leads in hand, Fresno County Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are working hard to solve a 2002 cold case in Sanger.

And, they’re asking for the public’s help in tracking down the killer of 36-year-old Robert Jose Miralavi in the 700 block of J Street.

With the passage of time, detectives are hopeful that possible witnesses or others with knowledge of the homicide might be willing to share what they know.

Miralavi Killed Outside His Residence

Detectives say that someone shot and killed Miralavi outside his residence on June 18 of that year. He left behind a wife and children.

With the passage of time, detectives are hopeful that possible witnesses or others with knowledge of the homicide might be willing to share what they know.

Detectives Increase Focus on Cold Cases

The Miralavi homicide is one of several cold cases that the sheriff’s office is pursuing, said public information officer Tony Botti.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Botti said, detectives are devoting more time to old cases because they are in their offices more than in the field.

Who to Contact
