HANFORD — A sheriff’s deputy fatally shot a machete-wielding man Tuesday after he attacked three people near Hanford, authorities said.
“Right now, we don’t have any idea why he did what he did.” — Kings County Sheriff’s Commander Mark Bevens
Deputies responded to a call just before 8 a.m. at a home on 1st Place and Houston Avenue in Home Garden just before 8 a.m. They found a woman and two men seriously injured. One of the men had a head wound, said Kings County Sheriff’s Commander Mark Bevens.
Suspect Moved Toward Deputies With Machete
Deputies ordered the suspect, 26-year-old Dominque Anderson, to drop the machete but he “continued to advance aggressively toward the deputies” and one of them fired his gun, Bevens said. Anderson was shot and died at the scene, he said.
“Right now, we don’t have any idea why he did what he did,” Bevens said.
Victims Expected to Survive
ABC30, citing the sheriff’s office, reported that the victims were Anderson’s brother, Jamal Anderson; Eric Hawthorne, and Jennifer Angelucci. They were transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center and are expected to be OK.
