The Fresno Police Department, under Police Chief Jerry Dyer, is teaming with District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp to crack down on human trafficking and educate the public that prostitution is not a victimless crime.
In addition, local nonprofits such as Breaking the Chains are providing victims — many of whom are minors and runaways — with shelter, counseling and other much-needed help.
The video above is the latest in GV Wire’s continuing series on human trafficking.
In this installment, GV Wire’s Jamie Ouverson focuses her cameras on a day in the life of Fresno’s vice squad. As the video reveals, Fresno gangs are highly involved in human trafficking.
