A body was discovered this afternoon on a sandbar in the Kings River, the Fresno Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Monday.
A call came into the sheriff’s office at about noon from a person who reported seeing an unresponsive individual lying partially submerged in the water, southeast of Nebraska and Macdonough avenues.
Firefighters, emergency medical services, and sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene by 12:40 p.m. and retrieved the man from the river. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office, along with the crime scene unit, is working to identify the man and determine if there were suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
