The Fresno City Council recognized three Fresnans with Man of the Year proclamations at its Thursday (Oct. 24) meeting.
District 4 Councilman Paul Caprioglio honored Fresno Police Detective Danny Kim for his work in the community. Kim, who immigrated to America from Cambodia as a refugee, helped found outreach programs including Coffee with a Cop.
“He’s an out of the box guy,” Caprioglio said, calling Kim an inspiration.
District 2 Councilman Mike Karbassi honored healthcare executive and international business consultant Harry Harris.
“It’s a really great honor to be here,” Harris said.
District 5 Councilman Luis Chavez recognized Sunnyside High School principal Timothy Liles.
Liles taught Chavez at Roosevelt High. Chavez noted the academic improvements Liles had helped to bring about at the southeast Fresno school.
“We’ve got a lot more work to do,” the humble Liles said.
