“No one should have to choose between feeding their pets…or feeding themselves.”
That’s the mission statement behind Halo Cafe, a unique food pantry concept.
Jennifer Quinn-Yovino formed the nonprofit to help struggling individuals and families feed their beloved pets in times of need.

“If we can keep animals with the families who love them and at home, then we’ve done our job.” —Jennifer Quinn-Yovino

Standing in the Gap

If they are in danger of having to surrender their animal to an already overcrowded shelter because they’re not able to fill that dish, we want to be able to stand in the gap,” Quinn-Yovino said. “Essentially, we’re here to keep families together.”
Any pet parent who is experiencing financial hardship can utilize the services of Halo Cafe. Pet food distributions take place monthly and the organization requires applicants to validate their need if ongoing assistance is needed.
Halo Cafe also requires all pets in the household to be spayed or neutered, and vaccinated, to qualify and provides assistance in obtaining those services at low-cost.

A Powerful Bond

Quinn-Yovino understands the powerful bond between people and their animal companions. “We believe that pets are not a luxury,” she said.
“If we can keep animals with the families who love them and at home, then we’ve done our job.”
