Fresno State students can enroll in more than 200 online-only classes for the May-June intercession or summer session, but they’ll need to register and pay student fees before the class begins.

Classes will be online only because of the COVID-19 pandemic and potential health risks of holding in-person classes.

Daniel Bernard, associate dean of Continuing and Global Education at Fresno State, said the intercession and summer session classes can help students stay on track for graduation, or even get ahead.

Faculty and departments are in the process of determining which courses and laboratories can be available online, Bernard said. A revised schedule will be posted Monday for the May-June intercession and summer session.

Grant Program Available

Students in need of financial assistance for the intercession and summer session classes may be eligible for a grant through the Provost Graduation Initiative.

To qualify, students must have undergraduate status and be enrolled at Fresno State during the fall or spring semester, and be in good academic standing. Students close to graduation must have earned 80 or more academic units when applying.

The deadline to submit an application is 5 p.m. May 24.

CSU Summer Arts Canceled

Meanwhile, Fresno State announced this week that the CSU Summer Arts festival and classes have been canceled because of the novel coronavirus.

The program, which had been hosted by the Fresno State campus for the last three consecutive years, and over 17 years previously, had been scheduled for June 29 to Aug. 17 and was expected to attract more than 400 students.

Any payments made will be refunded.
