State Center Community College District classes will remain online through the summer due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, and campus gatherings will be banned through June, Chancellor Paul Parnell announced Monday.
Graduating students may still be able to celebrate getting their diploma, although celebrations may be virtual. Parnell encouraged them to hold onto their graduation gowns for now.
The district initially had announced that the campuses would be closed through April 27, but on Monday Parnell announced that the closure is being extended.
Nursing and first responder classes will continue, but with social distancing in effect. The extended closure was recommended by the state community colleges chancellor, Parnell said.
