Welfare Fraud Crackdown Produces 23 Arrests

A welfare fraud crackdown by the Tulare County District Attorney’s office resulted in the arrests of 23 people last week.
The effort snared two people from Fresno: Sheila Bell, 34, and Primavera Trevino, 38.
Those arrested were booked into the Tulare County Pre-Trial facility or cited and released.

Alleged Fraud Totaled $192,000

The DA’s office said that the alleged fraud in these cases totaled nearly $192,000.
Last year, DA Tim Ward said, his office identified $725,179 in fraudulent welfare benefits from 79 felony cases.

Call in With Fraud Tips

The office asks anyone who has a tip about suspected fraud to call 559 636-5410.
Those arrested last week were:

— Lynette Barba, 38, of Visalia;
— Jesenia Becera, 39, of Reedley;
— Sheila Bell, 34, of Fresno;
— Kay Bland, 34, of Visalia;
— Marisella Calvillo, 35, of Dinuba;
— Rosa Castaneda, 40, of Visalia;
— Patricia Castro, 55, of Visalia;
— Lupita Espinoza, 34, of Porterville;
—  Dianna Estrada, 26, of Visalia;
— Cynthia Hernandez, 22, of Tulare;
— Elizabeth Huerta, 45, of Visalia;
— Celina Maldonado, 36, of Tulare;
— Karla Mejia, 37, of Visalia;
— Orlando Orozco, 39, of Porterville;
— Vanessa Saesee, 23, of Visalia;
— Lorena Sanchez, 27, of Orosi;
— Maria Simental, 37, of Richgrove;
— Yvette Stanley, 60, of Visalia;
— Primavera Trevino, 38, of Fresno;
— Celina Maldonado, 36, of Tulare;
— and Veronica Villalon, 39, of Tulare.
