FRESNO — Nate Grimes scored four points and Fresno State knocked down three 3s in overtime and the Bulldogs put Pacific away, 81-78, Wednesday night.
Grimes got the Bulldogs started in the extra period of the nonconference basketball game, getting to the basket for a layup. Sam Bittner hit from deep and Noah Blackwell and Braxton Huggins followed from distance to put the game out of reach.
Anthony Townes converted two layups in the final 10 seconds, and Lafayette Dorsey hit two free throws with a second left to get Pacific to the final margin.
Deshon Taylor converted a 3-point play with 11 seconds remaining in regulation to put the Bulldogs up, 62-60, but Brandon McGhee hit a jumper with 3 seconds to go tie the game at 62-62 and force overtime.
Taylor had 22 points, dished seven assists and finished with three steals to lead Fresno State (4-2), which beat Hawaii on Sunday to place third at the 2018 Wooden Legacy tournament.
Huggins had 17 points and Bittner added another 16.
Ajare Sanni scored 32 points to lead Pacific (5-4), with Dorsey adding 16.
