Clovis Unified School District has made another top 10 list — this time for being one of the nation’s best employers for women in 2020.
The third annual ranking done by Forbes magazine evaluates businesses or organizations that employ more than 1,000. The magazine partnered with the market research firm Statista to survey 75,000 people last spring, including 45,000 women, asking about their employer’s culture, opportunities for career development, diversity, working conditions, and salaries.
Clovis Unified, with 5,000 employees, was the smallest employer on the top 10 list that was headed by the sporting goods retailer REI and also included Coca-Cola, Ulta Beauty, the Estee Lauder Companies, and Best Buy. The school district was rated No. 9 on the list.
The magazine reported the survey results on Tuesday.
‘Very Proud’ to Be Recognized
Clovis Unified superintendent Eimear O’Farrell, who got her start in the district as an elementary school teacher, said officials are “very proud” that the district has been recognized as one of the best employers of women in the U.S.
The recognition by Forbes validates the district’s efforts to develop the best possible workforce to serve its 44,000 students, O’Farrell said.
“Clovis Unified has three defined aims upon which we base all of our decisions. Aim No. 3 states that we hire, develop, sustain, and value a high-quality, diverse workforce,” she said in a statement. “We truly value all of our employees and will continue making efforts to provide professional development, support, and a culture of respect and opportunities for them.”
