House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) criticized a proposal to give unemployed workers 70% of their wages as being overly complicated for states to manage, arguing that over 60% of American supported a “flat amount” instead, as Democrats and Republicans prepare to negotiate the next stimulus bill in Congress this week.
Key Facts:
Pelosi was asked twice on CBS’ Face the Nation if she would accept a Republican proposal that calls for payments capped at 70% of each worker’s lost income, which would be smaller than the $600 per week workers received through the previous rescue package.
Pelosi did not answer the questions, and instead blasted President Trump and Republicans for their handling of the coronavirus crisis and delay in getting another bill signed.
