Flying Microchips the Size of a Sand Grain Could Be Used for Population Surveillance

Winged microchips developed by engineers at Northwestern University are being billed as the smallest-ever human-made flying structures. They are as small as a grain of sand and can be carried by the wind as they monitors such things as pollution levels or the spread of airborne diseases.
